Lost Items
Always seem to be missing and losing items around the house?
There's a possibility you have a faerie around your house!
Some faeries such as the Lob Faerie, boggarts and brownies are notorious for stealing.

To get your object back, write a small note asking for your valuable item back and explain its importance.
Add in an exchange in offering for your item and they'll most likely be more than happy with that trade (pressed flowers, herbs, jewellery, nuts and seeds, fresh flowers, berries, shiny or pretty stones (emeralds are their biggest tressure), or milk and bread.

If you still don't have your item back they may not want your offering, you or they have lost your item or just don't want to give it back.

Boggart
is a household fairy which causes things to disappear, milk to sour, and dogs to go lame. Always malevolent, the boggart will follow its family wherever they flee. In Northern England, at least, there was the belief that the boggart should never be named, for when the boggart was given a name, it would not be reasoned with or persuaded and become uncontrollable and destructive.
Changeling
a fairy who is swapped in to replace a human baby. The mortal child is taken back to the realm of the fairies to be raised and put to work, while the creature left behind usually sickens and dies. Though some may live into adulthood, they are always thought to be strange by the locals.
Faerie Mounds
Also known as Fairy Hills or Fairy Forts, are the remains of stone circles, ringforts or hillforts in These remains are said to be either homes for fairies and other supernatural creatures, or portals to the Otherworld.
History
Fairy, also spelt faery, faerie, fey, fae. When faeries were a common belief many would refuse to speak their name and refer to them by other names: the little people, the hidden people, the Gentry, or the Neighbors.

The oldest fairies on record in England were first described by the historian Gervase of Tilbury in the 13th century but the earliest form of faerie like beings can be found loosely in the mythical beings in Greek mythology, such as the nymphs, satyrs and sileni.

Old Celtic and Germanic beliefs state to think faeries are the dead or human souls waiting for reincarnation or souls too good for hell and not good enough for heaven. Another old belief and most popular is they're sent by the gods to look after nature.

Modern paganism views are quite different. They see faeries as a life force like animals and humans created by deities but residing in a parallel world or an astral plane. They believe these beings have the ability to transcend the plane and travel between dimensions at will. Pagans and faeries were always very close and would always be call upon while in ritual.

According to legend, fairies went into hiding to avoid us because … well, we invaded their lands, so what else could they do?

Another well known legand of a Faery queen Fand and her human lover Cuchulain falling in love and seeking to marry. This upset the God Manann. He separated them and stopped the interaction between human and faeries.

Another tale suggests faeries and humans worked so closely together, faeries became more and more mischievous and jealous with humans and humans started misusing the faeries gifts and exploiting them. We've become more and more distant now.

Appearance
Pixies
Pixies in folklore are depicted as little people with wings. They do not get along with other Faeries because of constant fighting over territories.
Pooka
is a mischievous spirit from Irish folklore. It is often portrayed as taking the form of an animal, such as a rabbit or a horse, and is known for playing tricks on humans. In some stories, the Pooka is said to be a benign but mischievous presence, while in others it is portrayed as more malevolent, with the ability to bring harm to those who cross its path.
Being spirit and consciousness, faeries are formless.

They are spirits working with nature and do an amazing job, they shouldn't be stereotyped as good or bad since they're all different. Many believe they are souls that didn't fit into hell nor heaven.
You'll hear the fae are ugly dark coloured monsters, figures of light, 3 foot tall human like beings, smoke or mist, Tinkerbelle looking beings or even so alike to humans you could be standing next to one right now. The answer is all of the above plus more, they can mold themselves and disappear as they please.

Types of Fairies

-
Trooping Fairies or Social Fairies
-
Solitary Fairies
Social or trooping fairies are those who lived in large company, like in a clan. The Tuatha de Danann who lived in the sidh, ruled by a king, and sometimes a queen (or both), can be considered as the social fairies. They were often seen feasting, singing and dancing. They can be either benevolent or hostile to humans. Another example of trooping fairies is the Merrow.

The solitary faerie usually avoids large gathering. There are many types of solitary faerie, such as banshee, leprechaun, cluricaune, brownie etc.
Bunyip
According to tradition of the Aboriginal people of Australia, the Bunyip is a malevolent monster that lurks in the water, waiting to pounce upon its next meal. And that meal is sometimes human. It is said that on a quiet night in the Outback, you can hear the haunting cry of the Bunyip.
Communicate with the faeries
Astral projection. astral projection into the fairy realm is dangerous and I highly recommend doing your research before hand. A Witch's Guide to Faery Folk by Edain Mccoy is a fabulous book for beginners on this subject. She has a guided meditation included in her book so I recommend downloading her book on Audible.
Get out into nature. This is my favourite most effective way to get in touch with the fae. Bring along some treats or offerings if you wish and just take a talk in the forest, your local park, river or even just in your garden. Prune your plants, give them some water and just show your garden some love. If you have a question in mind for them, sit or lay down and close your eyes. Put yourself in full relaxation mode and ask them your desired question. You may get a surge of inspiration, an intuitive feeling for the answer or the answer may come to you through signs throughout the day. If you're asking for their blessing remember to always bring an offering in return.

Altars. This is also a great way to invite faeries to your home. Faeries will cleanse and purify the home gradually while help to look after your garden. A faerie altar should have different symbols and items that relate to faeries and nature. Placing Elder around the house or on your front door with help keep the unseelie fae away but not necessary.
Keep an eye out!
The best time to catch site of a faerie is when the season turns from spring to summer (Beltane)
Also from Autumn to winter Samhain. These are the favoured times for faeries to go wandering on their ‘faery rades’ or rides.
